Maverik Brand Spot

This spot was produced for Maverik, a chain of 800 convenience stores. Maverik has recently aquired the Kum and Go chain and are in the process of renovating the stores into Maverik’s. This commercial spot was intended to introduce customers in the state of Colorado to the brand. Maverik is known for having beautiful landscape photography in their stores (some taken by me) from the state in which the store is located.

In this spot we see two friends captivated and them magically transported from the store to the location of the photograph. I was the producer and the DP of this shoot. The first challenge was selecting which image in the stores to use, then finding the exact location of the photograph. We achieved this classic dolly zoom shot with a Sony FX6 paired with a Fujinon 28-100mm zoom lens.

Our locations were outside of Denver and in Boulder, Colorado. We got permission to film on the Flat Irons with two local mountain guides for talent and I got to put my rock climbing harness on for the first time in quite a while to get the shots on the mountain.
